In the Electrical Engineering Department of CWIT, we take immense pride in providing the highest quality of education by paying utmost importance to teaching quality and practical learning. These activities and educational methodology help in an overall development in our students, making them competent and industry ready. We also take great pride in our excellent infrastructure and have ensured that the best of the technologies be incorporated in the teaching-learning process. We aspire to reach a higher horizon, a horizon at which we are recognized at the national and the international levels.

Program Educational Objectives

The following Program Educational Objectives are established for Electrical Engineering:

  • PEO 1: To apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and electrical engineering fundamentals to analyze and solve problems in electrical domains.
  • PEO 2: To acquire adequate technical skills and abilities to communicate and work effectively in multidisciplinary environment individually and in a team.
  • PEO 3: To exhibit professional and ethical attitude, leadership qualities, good marketing skills and entrepreneurial talents to serve the nation.
Program Outcomes (PO's)

The Students of Diploma in Electrical Engineering passed out will be able to:

  • Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify and analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
  • Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
  • Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  • Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
  • Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities
  • Life-long learning: Ability to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO's)

The Students of Diploma in Electrical Engineering passed realizes the fact that the knowledge and techniques learnt in this programme has direct implication for the betterment of society and its sustainability.

  • PSO I: Able to apply principles of electrical engineering and laboratory skills for testing operation and maintenance of electrical equipments /systems..
  • PSO II: Able to select, estimate and interpret data for physical systems, components or processes related to electrical engineering systems.
  • PSO III: Able to apply the knowledge of electrical systems to work professionally in a team or to lead a team.

Electrical Engineering Department is established in 1958, in the beautiful campus of the Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology . The intake capacity is of 60 students. The major strength of the department is a team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties who are continuously supporting their students for their academic excellence. The Department is having the Laboratories with all experimental kits and equipment and also has excellent computational facility. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart practical knowledge ,how our students can apply the theory in real life problem and promote their problem-solving skills The students are encouraged to undertake various extracurricular activities.

Laboratories

1. Basic Electrical Lab

This lab consists of models, demo-cut-outs, charts, specimens which students are allowed to fondle during the practical sessions.

List of Equipment:
Ammeters, Voltmeters, wattmeters, Rheostats, wall hung charts related to electrical engineering an safety of Demo model of DC machine, Demo model of AC machine, Model of DCand AC motor starters.

2. Electrical Machine Lab

Electrical machines lab in this lab 12 number of electrical motors are installed for carrying out the experiments on electrical machine and Transformers lab is also equipped with single phase and three phase dimmers fats current Transformers potential Transformers etc for conduction of practicals

DC Motor and DC Generator Sets, Slip Ring Induction Motors, Squirrel Cage Induction Motorcwith DC Shunt Generator, Three phase Alternator with DC Motor, Synchronous Machine with DC Motor, Slip Ring Induction Motor with DC Motor and Squirrel cage Induction Motor

3. Electrical Workshop Practice Lab

In this lab, various household as well as commercial equipments /or / their models are available on which students are taught to identify and list the components and parts, understanding the construction and working, detecting the probable faults and their locations, and rectify them by following all the safety rules and regulations.

: Models of Oven, Iron, Table fan, Grinder, Water heater, Geyser, Hair dryer etc.

4. Instrumentation Lab

Various instruments are used in day to day activities in commercial and residential activities which are either electrically operated or controlled. During the practical sessions students; in this lab; are allowed to fondle to make them aware and habitual to select, suggest and use proper instruments and instrumentation scheme as per the specific demands of the process.

Standard Resistances, RTD, Thermocouples, Thermistors, Strain Gauge Model, LVDT Model

5. Electrical Measurement Lab:

To make students aware and trend them to connect various metres , equipments, etc. as per the given circuit diagram for the measurement and record of electric power, energy, inductance, capacitance etc. by various techniques in this laboratory.

6. Programmable Logic Controller Lab

In todays modern era of fast growing industrialization and automation of processes. To achieve this PLC and SCADA system plays an important role; students are acquainted and trained with the latest hardware and software of PLC and SCADA modules available in this lab.

7. Electrical Engineering Computer Lab

To give on hand experience and to facilitates the students of diploma in Electrical Engineering with basic knowledge of computer used for Electrical Engineering drawing techniques and related skills; this lab is equipped with net connected personnel computers.
