The Institute was initially conducting a course in Mechanical Draftsmanship. Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering was started in 1958. Institute has started an additional batch with an intake of 60 from 2002.
The department consists of latest machinery and equipments required for Diploma Programme. The department has laboratories as: IC Engines, Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Machinery, Metrology and Quality Control, Theory of Machines, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Measurement & Control, CNC/CAD-CAM, ThermalEngg, Internet Laboratory, Workshop. Advanced Software like CATIA V5R 19, SW 2009, AUTOCAD. The department has a well qualified and dedicated staff.
